As Country Director for Gender Inclusive Climate Change Governance (GenCGov) in Kenya, Dr. Jawuoro leads the project’s country-level research, partnerships, policy engagement and capacity-strengthening work. His work focuses on strengthening the evidence, institutions and governance systems needed to ensure that climate policies and responses are inclusive, gender-responsive and attentive to the experiences of women and marginalised groups.

He has led and supported randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental studies and mixed-methods research involving refugees, internally displaced people and host communities. His earlier work in Kenya included leading research and evidence for refugee livelihoods and economic recovery programmes, including large-scale evaluations examining employment, enterprise development, economic inclusion and self-reliance. He has also contributed to research on women’s economic empowerment, gender and climate resilience, and climate-related vulnerabilities.

Dr. Jawuoro holds a PhD in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and an MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration from the University of London’s Refugee Law Initiative (RLI). He also holds an MSc and First Class Honours degree in Range Management from the University of Nairobi.
