Jacqueline “Jackie” Kimeu is an accomplished environmental scientist and energy governance specialist with over a decade of experience advancing climate justice, clean energy access, and gender-responsive policy across Africa. She currently serves as the Senior Climate and Energy Advisor at Christian Aid, leading strategic programmes that support sustainable energy transitions, resilient community development, and climate advocacy across Kenya and the wider region. From 2022 to 2025, Jackie was an Official Observer for the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), contributing civil society perspectives to global climate finance processes. During the same period, she served as Energy and Climate Change Coordinator at WWF–Kenya, where she supported national and sub-national climate and energy policy development, strengthened partnerships, and guided programme implementation. Prior to this, Jackie was the Coordinator of the ACCESS Coalition (2018–2022), where she delivered the coalition’s global strategy and worked with civil society organisations to influence SDG 7 implementation, engage multilateral development banks, and build capacity for clean energy advocacy across sub-Saharan Africa. Earlier in her career, Jackie served as Senior Project Officer – Energy at Practical Action, leading gender mainstreaming in energy programming and implementing the Women in Energy Enterprises Programme under ENERGIA. She also played an instrumental role in Kenya’s SEforALL initiative and county-level energy planning processes. Jackie began her professional journey at Green Africa Foundation, leading bioenergy research and climate adaptation initiatives, including contributions to Kenya’s Charcoal Regulations review and Kitui County’s Charcoal Management Policy. With deep expertise in gender integration, climate adaptation, renewable energy policy, and stakeholder engagement, Jackie is recognised as a leading voice in Africa’s energy access ecosystem and a strong advocate for people living in energy poverty.
