About Us

Who We Are

Gender Inclusive Climate Change Governance (GenCGov) is a research initiative funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF). Our mission is to promote gender-responsive climate governance by bridging the gap between policy, research, and action. We work across Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa, focusing on advocacy, capacity building, and legal reforms to ensure that climate policies reflect the needs and voices of women and marginalized communities.

Why Gender Matters in Climate Governance

Climate change is not gender-neutral—it affects women and marginalized groups disproportionately. Women in rural and informal sectors face higher climate risks due to their dependence on natural resources and limited access to adaptation resources. Despite these challenges, women remain underrepresented in decision-making roles that shape climate policies. At GenCGov, we believe that inclusive governance leads to stronger, more effective climate solutions.
